Meet the Innkeepers

Jim Masek and Russell Knight are the innkeepers of the Carrier Houses B&B as of May 2017 along with Watson and Ranger, their rescue dogs and resident greeters. Jim and Russell moved from Columbia, SC where Jim has worked in the hospitality field for over 10 years as such hotels as DoubleTree by Hilton, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Clarion Hotel and various limited service hotels such as Days Inn, Sleep Inn and Country Inn & Suites. Jim loves to cook and be creative in the kitchen using local ingredients and sharing the  “Farm to Table” experience with the guests. Russell has worked for the SC Dept of Education in Grants Administration as well as running a non-profit in Columbia. Russell loves to chat with the guests at breakfast to help them plan their day.

 

As small business owners on Main Street, we are very involved in our community and enjoy the small town feeling. In addition to running the B&B, Jim is a church musician and plays and directs handbell choirs at First Baptist and Rutherfordton Presbyterian. He also sings with the choir when time permits. He is a member of the Rutherford Community Choir as well. Jim volunteers as a Board Member for the Tourism Development Authority, KidSenses Children’s Museum and the Rutherfordton Town Rising. In addition, Jim is a member of the Rutherfordton Garden Club. Russell represents the B&B at the Town Council Meetings and the Downtown Merchants Association.
